Food and Lifestyle Habits for Healthy Skin

Having healthy and glowing skin is one thing that every woman want and even willing to break the bank for skincare products to have the results they hope for… One thing we should understand is that good skin is coming from within. From the food we eat to lifestyle habits to a state of mind. Here are some basics and easy to follow habits that will get you off a good start.

  1. Water – Water is used by your body to help flush out toxins and waste products and thus is significant in clearing up your skin. In addition, skin cells are constantly exposed to a drying environment; therefore, it is essential to keep it well hydrated to maintain that healthy glow of the skin.
  2. Antioxidants – antioxidants can calm inflammation, berries, kales and green tea are rich in antioxidants. It’s great for healing blemishes and scars, flushes out toxins, and also keeps skin supple. Almonds are rich in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent signs of aging caused by free radicals and may even bolster your skin’s defense against skin cancer.
  3. Fatty acids – Salmon, olive oil and walnuts are rich in fatty acids, serve as building blocks for healthy skin cells. Since our bodies don’t have the ability to produce fatty acids, eating salmon helps reinforce your skin’s barrier, and keeps moisture in and irritants out.
  4. Tomatoes – Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, a potent antioxidant to protect skin from UV damage.
  5. Carotene Carrots and bell peppers are packed with carotenoids, another antioxidant that decreases sun sensitivity, diminishing the appearance of fine lines around the eyes and crow’s feet. Carrot also rich in vitamin A, which has been found to decrease the skin’s oil production, and there’s also some evidence that it can improve psoriasis.
  6. Avocados – It penetrate cells at the deepest level, which is a great way to get a basal layer skin dose of vitamins A, D, and E, good fats, and phytonutrients.
  7. Vitamin C – Study shows that people who eat foods rich in vitamin C have fewer wrinkles and less age-related dry skin than those who don’t. Oranges, strawberries, red peppers and grapefruits are rich in vitamin C.
  8. Vitamin BGreek yogurt is great for banishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles because it’s rich in vitamin B, which also help to detox skin, just be sure it’s greek yogurt, not flavored yogurt.
  9. Avoid Sugar – Eating sugar, especially before bedtime will speed up your skin aging process. If you really love desserts, eat dark chocolate! Dark chocolate is great for skin firming, it also has flavonols, which is a very potent antioxidant. But be sure to look for chocolate that contains 70 percent or more cacao because they also have less sugar.
  10. Getting Enough Sleep – Many people may overlook this one, but getting enough sleep has a huge impact on skin as your skin need rest to regenerate it’s skin cells.
  11. Having a peace of mindDaily meditation and yoga can help keeping your mind and hormone in good state, so to avoid hormone cause of acne.
  12. Exercise – Walking 30 minutes daily not only good for your body and brain, the mild sweat of your body can help clear the toxins of your skin as well.
